Albania to open tender for Tirana-Dures railway rehabilitation in Q4 – EBRD

State-owned Albanian Railways intends to open a tender for the rehabilitation of the railroad section between Tirana and Durres, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said.
The tender for the reconstruction of the 34-km section is expected to be launched in the fourth quarter of 2017, the EBRD said in a notice posted on its website on Tuesday.
Also during the fourth quarter of this year, the Albanian railway system operator intends to launch a separate tender for the construction of a new rail link, approximately 5 km in length, to connect Tirana International Airport and its interchange with the Tirana – Durres railway line, the EBRD said in the notice.
Both tenders are part of a 90.3 million euro ($106.9 million) project, which will be financed from the proceeds of a loan from the EBRD and grants from the EU through the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF).
